July ‘03 Newsletter Indian River Animal Hospital, Inc. Bob Johnson, D.V.M. This is an active time in the household of the Johnson family. The London Bunch (from Cork, Ireland) will be with us for about a week during the first part of August. The “Little Bob” Family (from Lauderdale) will be moving to Stuart at the branch office there. Mom, “My Dr. Marge”, and myself will be in Alaska seeing the sights and planning her impending marriage. Busy fun time. The office will be open and Dr. Clement Darrow will be glad to help you with any of your pets needs. Sandy and I will be back in the office July 8th. July fourth is right around the corner with the celebrations and the accompanying loud noises, etc. Those pets sensitive to the sounds of explosions, wild parties (recalling my younger days) and thunderstorms may need tranquilizers for a day or so. We have had several pets, apparently panicked by the thunderstorms, which became lost. Secure housing is important. Young pets have a very fragile metabolism. Any stress (diarrhea, infection, parasites, malnutrition) can be very disruptive and contribute to hypoglycemia, which weakens the youngster further, and can contribute to its demise. Home treatment to the newborn and young pet would be sugar water by dropper, and delivery to the veterinarian as soon as possible. Cause of the stress must be addressed immediately. Thank you for the towels you donated for the cause. The pets really enjoy being fluffed after their baths. Have a great 4th with your family and be sensitive to you pets. visit us on the web @ www.IRAHINC.com or email us at User32960@aol.com |
